Self-Grooming Class Makes Learning Makeup Easier

Hey!
A friend of mine that usually has her makeup done by an up-scale parlor insisted that I join her in a 5 day self-grooming class. The class cost Rs.10,000 and was paid in full on the first day. We were taught by an experienced makeup artist that covered day makeup, evening makeup and party makeup. On the first day, the makeup artist had a look at our skin and recommended us which Kryolan TV Stick will suit our complexion. We were also advised to bring face powder, eyeshade kit, blush kit, and eyeliner. She recommended us which products to use but given how expensive the 5 day class was becoming, we opted to purchase cosmetic products from affordable brands.

DAY MAKEUP
We were taught day makeup as it is the easiest out of all to do. The procedure was pretty simple. We first applied Kryolan TV Stick on our face and necks. After blending it in with a round sponge, we applied face powder generously. We then contoured our nose and jaw-line using a chocolate blush color. We also swept blush across our cheeks. Afterwards, we applied a light eyeshade that matched our skin tones. We then drew a thin line on our eyelids and applied one coat of mascara. We then finished by drawing a line around our lips and filling it in with light brown lipstick.

EVENING MAKEUP
We were then taught how to glam up our looks with smokey eyeshadow. We used white eyeshadow in the inner corner. We applied gray eyeshadow in the lid area and finished by drawing a 'V' with black eyeshadow. We blended the colors to make our eye makeup look better. We also applied a nylon eyeshade beneath the brow bone. We did a cat-eye liner and added two coats of mascara to make our eye makeup more dramatic. Finalize this look with lipstick and kohl in the waterline.

You can also golden eyeshade in the lid area and then use draw a 'V' with black eyeshade. I personally like these eyeshades as they go well with black or golden dresses.

PARTY MAKEUP
As most South Asian attire are colorful, party makeup allows us to use to different single-shade eyeshadows such as pink, green, or blue. Let's use pink for instance. For the inner corner, use a light pink eyeshadow and extend it all across the lid. Draw a 'V' with a darker pink eyeshade. Blend thoroughly. You can also add a brown eyeshade in the crease area to soften the look. You should also  apply nylon eyeshade beneath the brown bone for this look. Now apply Arabian eyeliner and then apply two coats of mascara. Use lipstick and kohl if desired.

How Was My Experience?
Pro: The self-grooming class was well planned. Our teacher taught us many eyeshadow combinations that are commonly used in everyday life. We were also taught basics of back-combing our hairs.

Cons: Five days wasn't enough to learn different makeup styles. My friend especially struggled with drawing eyeliner and remembering the makeup steps. I think the class duration should have been longer so students can get more practice. I also believe our instructor should have taught us about different skin types and made cosmetic recommendations accordingly. Another problem I had was with hairstyling. Backcombing isn't easy and requires as much practice as makeup does. Unfortunately, we were taught on the last day of class. I believe we should have practiced hairstyling throughout the five days.
