Nourish Your Damaged Hair

Hello Girls!

How healthy are your locks? I am envious of my mother's hairs. It goes down to her waist and is silky. Despite repetitively coloring gray strands, her hair continues to be soft and manageable. Anyone can run their fingers down her smooth hair! My story, however, is different! My hairs are very dry and brittle. Although, I use the same shampoos and conditioners and hair oil products as my mom, the results were disastrous. I thought the problem would disappear if I change my hair oil. I've tried everything from garlic, cactus, olive, and coconut hair oil. I've also mixed in aloe-vera and other herbal products. These products helped my hair grow out but it did nothing to condition my hair. I realized my hairs required more care and a standard hair oil product wouldn't do.

Road to Softer Hair

1.Trim Hair
I decided before I switch products I should get my hair trimmed. For a long while, I was hesitant to cut my hair. It took years to grow them past my shoulders and I didn't want someone to shorten my length drastically. I went to a local salon (Madeehas, Lahore) that everyone raved about and asked for a slight trim. The hair stylist did a wonderful job! She advised me to trim my hair every 3 or 6 months.

2. Avoid Styling Products
Girls are often tempted to use styling products to enhance the beauty of their hairs. They use hair dryers, curlers and straighteners to give their hairs a WOW!! effect. Although, these products magnify one's beauty, they contribute to a lot of hair damage as well. Beauty experts advise to minimize the use of heat styling  products. Keep it to once or twice a week! Before you start styling, use thermal protection serums.

3. Protein Treatment
You can make D-I-Y hair treatments at home or ask hair stylist for one. I preferred to use services provided by Madeehas. Protein conditioning consists of hair mask, massage and steam. They applied a lot of conditioning material to my hair and asked me to wash it out when I went home. After washing it out, my hair became silkier and smoother.

4. Change Your Hair Care Products
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
I heard only good things about Dove Nourishing Hair Oil Shampoo and Conditioner from my friends. I love Dove and I highly recommend others to use their products. In the future, I will use their other products as well.

  • Hair Mask
I used Rain Forest Moisture Hair Butter after washing my hair. It is good value for money as the pot takes a while to run out. It effectively treats dry and damaged hairs. I was impressed right after the first wash!

Body Shop also has Rain Forest Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. I didn't use these products yet. However, reviews on the company's website shows many customers are generally satisfied with them.
